Six months into freelancing and my invoicing is a spreadsheet held together with hope. I bill clients in USD and EUR. Looking for something simple that handles both currencies and doesn't cost more than a coffee a week. What are you all using?

Ready to buy. Asks directly for a low-cost multi-currency invoicing tool, which is what Ledgerly does.

Tallybird just raised my plan again. Third time this year. Anyone moved off it recently? Need recurring invoices and that's about it.

Frustrated. Actively leaving a competitor over price and only needs recurring invoices.

Our agency is outgrowing Billowly. We're comparing Billowly, Ledgerly and two others this month. The deciding factor for us is multi-currency reporting at quarter end. Would love to hear real experiences before we commit.

Ask HN: What do solo consultants use for invoices these days? I don't want a full accounting suite. I want to send an invoice in a client's currency and know when it's been paid.

    86

Ready to buy. Wants lightweight invoicing with currency support and payment status, not a suite.

Spent my whole Sunday chasing late invoices and reconciling expenses by hand. There has to be a better way to do this as a one-person studio.

    74

Frustrated. Describes the exact pain Ledgerly targets and is open to a better option.

What is the best invoicing software for a freelancer who works with clients in several countries? I've tried Tallybird but the currency conversion fees add up fast.

Great breakdown. I still can't find a tool that tracks expenses and invoices in one place without being built for a 50 person company. Any suggestions for a small shop?

Building a billing flow for my consulting side project. Before I write this myself: is there an existing invoicing service with an API that handles multi-currency invoices and tax lines?

Comparing. Evaluating buying over building for multi-currency invoicing.

From a link to a reply in three steps

  1. Paste a link

Use your website, or an App Store or Google Play link. AI builds a Profile: who buys it, the pain it solves, your competitors and the words buyers use. Edit anything it gets wrong.

Sample data: A Profile built from a pasted link, with the audience, competitors and Search phrases of a fictional invoicing app.
  2. Get a daily feed

A Scan runs every day. Sellers, spam and idle chatter get dropped. What's left arrives scored and sorted by Buyer stage, and a Digest email brings you the top 5.

Sample data: A daily feed of scored posts, filtered by Buyer stage.
  3. Reply in your voice

Open a post and get three drafts, from pure advice to openly about your product. Edit one, copy it and post it from your own account.

Sample data: Three draft replies to one post, one per Angle, with a button to copy a draft and open the thread.

Every score shows its working

  1. Evidence quote

The exact sentence behind the score. We check it against the post, and if the words aren't there, no quote is shown.

  2. Intent score

From 0 to 100: how likely this author would welcome your product now. Posts below 60 never reach your feed.

  3. Buyer stage and reason

Ready to buy, Comparing or Frustrated, plus one plain sentence on why the post fits your Profile.

Sample data: a post with its Evidence quote highlighted, its Intent score, Buyer stage and reason.

Know when someone names a competitor

List the competitors you care about in your Profile. Posts that name one get tagged and gathered on their own page, and each Scan also searches for “alternative to” them on Reddit and X, for your first two.

Sample data: Posts that name a tracked competitor, grouped by competitor.

See which replies earned a click

Turn on a Tracked link when you copy a draft, then mark the reply as posted. The Replied page lists each reply's date, Source and clicks. It counts clicks, not sales, and keeps counts and timestamps without IP addresses.

Sample data: A prompt to mark a reply as posted, a Tracked link, and the Replied page listing each reply's date, Source and clicks.

Fair questions

What does Who's Asking do?

You paste a link to your product and AI builds a Profile of who buys it and what they search for. Every day, a Scan looks for public posts from people asking for that kind of product, scores each one with an explained reason, and drafts replies you can post yourself.

Will this get me banned?

We never post for you and we don't hold your social logins, so nothing happens on your accounts unless you do it. Drafts that name your product disclose your affiliation in plain words, and the Helpful Angle doesn't mention your product at all. We can't promise every moderator will welcome a reply. Each community sets its own rules on self-promotion, and following them is up to you.

Where does the data come from?

Public posts only. Reddit, X, Bluesky, Threads, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Quora posts are found through a third-party data provider. Hacker News and Stack Overflow come from public APIs. Coverage isn't complete, and a thread may have closed or been deleted by the time you open it, so check it before you reply.

How is the Intent score worked out?

Claude, Anthropic's AI model, reads each post against your Profile and scores from 0 to 100 how likely the author is to welcome your product now. It also picks the sentence behind the score and a Buyer stage. Posts below 60, and posts that are only general discussion, are dropped. It's an AI model's judgment, so treat it as a strong hint rather than a fact.

Can I edit what the AI writes?

Yes. You can change every Profile field, and any draft before you copy it. You can also regenerate a Draft set up to 3 times per Opportunity.

What counts as an Opportunity?

A post that passed scoring for one of your Projects. That's what your Plan's quota measures. Each Project gets up to 15 new Opportunities a day, highest scores first. The count resets each billing period. If you reach your quota, Scans pause until the next period or until you upgrade.

What's in the free preview?

1 Project, one Scan and up to 6 Opportunities, once per Account, with no card needed. The preview Scan skips LinkedIn and Quora. Drafts, Tracked links and the Digest work the same as on paid Plans.

How do Tracked links work?

A Tracked link is a short link to your Project's URL. It's only added to a draft when you turn it on. It counts clicks and adds UTM tags so you can follow visits in your own analytics. We ignore obvious bots, and we keep counts and timestamps without IP addresses.

What kinds of products does it work for?

Anything with a website, an App Store link or a Google Play link. It works best when people publicly ask for your kind of product. If nobody discusses your niche online, your feed will be quiet.

Do you store the posts you find?

Yes. To show your feed we store the text of each Opportunity, its link, the author's public name and its engagement counts. Deleting a Project deletes its data. The Privacy Policy has the details.

How do I cancel?

Plans are monthly and billed through Polar, and you can cancel from the billing portal. You keep access until the end of the paid period. After that, Scans pause and your data stays readable.
